How to remove a hold

What is a hold?
Account holds require you to follow specific steps to register for and complete courses. Holds should be removed once you complete these steps.

How to see your holds
You can view holds on the homepage of your student portal . A red number on the left shows how many holds you have. Click the link on the “Holds & Alerts” tile on the right to see details in the Message Center.

How to clear a hold

  1. Log in to your student portal using your byupathway.edu username.
  2. Click the “Holds & Alerts” link to review the hold details.
  3. Follow the instructions in the “Holds” section. This could include selecting a PathwayConnect and/or institute gathering, paying tuition, etc. (There are also specific hold instructions in the menu on this page.)
  4. Once you complete all necessary steps, check your student portal over the next 48 hours to confirm the hold has been cleared. We understand some holds may not be updating immediately due to system issues.
  5. If you’re experiencing issues or the hold persists, try the following:
    1. Clear your cache and cookies
    2. Use an incognito window
    3. Use a different browser (preferably Chrome)
    4. Use a computer (not a phone or tablet)
    5. Use “login@byupathway.edu” if your byupathway.edu username isn’t working
