LDS Philanthropies encourages donor participation to meet $10 million goal for Pathway
An anonymous benefactor agreed to a $2 million donation match in December 2016 as part of an ongoing LDS Philanthropies campaign with the goal of raising $10 million for Pathway.
After meeting with BYU-Idaho President Clark G. Gilbert, the donor gave an initial $1 million and committed to match any other contributions to Pathway that are less than $100,000 up to an additional $1 million. Chris Moore, director of LDS Philanthropies at BYU-Idaho, explained that this initiative is designed to encourage participation from as many people as possible in the fundraising effort.
“This donor wants a lot of people to get involved in raising money for Pathway — even if it is a small amount,” said Moore. “With this donor doubling the amount of any donations up to $100,000, other donors can know that their contribution, regardless of the amount offered, will have an even greater impact.”
LDS Philanthropies will be hosting private fundraising events throughout 2017. Prior to the anonymous contribution, the campaign had already raised $3.4 million. Those interested in donating to Pathway are encouraged to
Contributions help pay for PathwayConnect course development, operating costs, travel, training, and program materials. They are especially impactful in many international locations where tuition funds alone are not enough to sustain regular program operations. From these contributions, Pathway will be better positioned to administer the program to students around the world.
